Director of the Biology Institute of the ISU, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of the Laboratory «Problems of biosystems adaptation», Professor of the Department of Hydrobiology and Zoology of Invertebrates of the ISU Biology and Soil Faculty. Laureate of the Russian Federation Government Prize. Main scientific interests: ecology of hydrobionts and mechanisms of adaptation to stress factors of the environment; evolution and stress; mechanisms of nonspecific resistance in aquatic organisms.
Maxim graduated from Irkutsk State University, majoring in «Hydrobiology» (1997), there he passed his thesis on «Comparative assessment of the ratio of Baikal Gammarids and Holarctic Gammarus lacustris Sars to abiotic factors» (2002). From 2001 to 2003 he was a lecturer at the Department of Hydrobiology and Zoology of the ISU Biological Faculty, from 2003 to 2011 – Associate Professor of the Department, since 2006 – Head of the Laboratory «Problems of Biosystems Adaptation» of the Institute of Biology at the ISU. In 2010 at the National Research Tomsk State University he passed his doctoral dissertation on the topic: «Ecological and physiological aspects of adaptation to abiotic factors of the environment of endemic Baikal and Palaearctic amphipods». Since 2011 – Professor of the Department of Hydrobiology and Zoology of the Biological Faculty of the ISU. 2013-2014 – acting director of the Biology Institute of Irkutsk State University. In 2014 he headed the Institute of Biology of the Irkutsk State University.
