The head of the project «Save Baikal», the winner of the honorary award «Volunteer of the year 2017».
Maxim was born in a large family in Moscow on December 4, 1985. He graduated from the History faculty of Moscow Pedagogical University. He finished second higher education at the Economics faculty of the Synergy University. Now he is writing the thesis «Processing of solid waste in a specially protected natural area, often visited by tourists». He worked at schools, at the underwater club of Moscow State University and at the first largest printing office in Russia which prints glossy magazines. He organized festivals, celebrations, large-scale mass events, and more than 100 events of different levels and scale. In 2011, after visiting Lake Baikal, according to his own words, Maxim’s life changed.
Today the most significant project for Maxim is «Save Baikal», which is included in the 3 most effective and promising environmental projects in Russia. In the framework of «Save Baikal», comprehensive measures are being taken to protect nature and promote environmental knowledge, skills and technologies, work to preserve cleanliness on the Lake Baikal shores and in specially protected natural areas of the Russian Federation. One of the key tasks of the project is to unite the two shores into the conservation of the Baikal region biodiversity. The project is aimed at creating synergy between the government, business, society, the media and volunteers.
Within the framework of the Center for the Development of Ecological and Social Projects Maxim Tokarev conducts environmental and educational work in secondary and higher educational institutions in different regions of Russia.
