A vacancy for the position of General Director is open at the “Lake Baikal” Foundation. We are a leading private conservation foundation that has been systematically working since 2016 to preserve the deepest freshwater lake on the planet. To date, the Foundation has collected and sent for recycling 10 tons of secondary raw materials; established infrastructure for separate waste collection in three national parks; taken under guardianship the Baikal seal, wild reindeer, red-listed black-capped marmot, golden eagle, and other rare and endangered species of plants and animals in Baikal; supported six independent expeditions to clean the lake from sunken fishing nets; maintained the longest ecological monitoring in the world—the monitoring of phytoplankton and zooplankton in “Point No. 1” lake; opened the Baikal Nature Reserve School; and conducted sustainable reforestation where natural recovery is difficult.
The Foundation implements all its projects in close collaboration with scientists, employees of specially protected natural areas along the shores of Baikal, and local residents in the Baikal region.
Currently, the Foundation is expanding its geographical reach and is ready to share its expertise in promoting sustainable development of specially protected natural areas and implementing climate projects in the Russian Federation. Additionally, the Foundation maintains its presence in organizations such as the World Water Council, UNEP, and participates in major Russian and international events dedicated to environmental protection.
For further development, we are undergoing an internal restructuring and have an open vacancy for the position of General Director. The primary responsibilities will include the development and standardization of the organization’s operational processes as well as engagement with private donors and corporate partners.
We are looking for a leader with relevant management experience who is ready to immerse themselves in the topic of environmental protection and animal welfare. Education in sustainable development and experience in fundraising for charitable projects is an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the team, including hiring, evaluation, motivation, and training (up to 10 people);
- Implementing CRM and improving document management;
- Managing and controlling budget, program, and financial documentation;
- Developing the organization by attracting private donors, grants, and corporate donations;
- Coordinating the implementation of activities within grants and corporate donations;
- Testing hypotheses for launching new areas and/or restructuring the Foundation’s products, packaging program products for fundraising;
- Coordinating the launch of paid products;
- Organizing and standardizing work with the Foundation’s beneficiaries;
- Interacting with the Foundation’s experts and government representatives;
- Finding and attracting new experts and partners;
- Preparing reports for benefactors and grant providers;
- Participating in external communications for the Foundation: collaborating with the PR manager, preparing expert articles and comments, representing the Foundation at public events.
Requirements:
- Education in sustainable development, financial management, or marketing;
- At least 3 years of experience managing projects and teams;
- Experience in developing and successfully implementing sustainable development projects;
- Proven success in working with stakeholders at various levels;
- Experience in fundraising for charitable projects/startups;
- Strong business communication and public speaking skills;
- Experience with CRM systems;
- English – Advanced (preferable);
