{"id":9600,"date":"2022-07-18T17:07:23","date_gmt":"2022-07-18T14:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/?page_id=9600"},"modified":"2024-07-11T22:39:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T19:39:49","slug":"our-achievements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/about-the-foundation\/our-achievements\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Achievements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2>2023<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Joined the international expert team of the 7th Global Review of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).<\/li><li>We continued our partnership with the World Around You Foundation of Siberian Wellness and started cooperation with Barrier, a water filter company.<\/li><li>We launched the project <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/climate-action\/the-baikal-protecting-and-preserving\/\">\u00abThe Baikal: Protecting and Preserving\u00bb<\/a>. In 2023, it was supported by the Presidential Grants Fund in the amount of 2,835,856 rubles.<\/li><li>We launched a special <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/fondozerobaikal\/736\">project<\/a> with Pyaterochka store: posters with tips on careful outdoor recreation appeared in stores in three regions.<\/li><li>Together with experts we <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/fondozerobaikal\/760\">prevented<\/a> artificial regulation of the Baikal seal population and obtained new <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/new-information-on-the-number-and-status-of-the-baikal-seals-in-2023-has-been-obtained\/\">data<\/a> on the number and condition of the endemic.<\/li><li>We went on a large expedition to prepare a development strategy for the \u00abZapovednoe Podlemorye\u00bb and launched the \u00abTrail of Trials\u00bb project.<\/li><li>Conducted two courses for third-year students of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the program \u00abManagement of Global Challenges\u00bb.<\/li><li>Launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/climate-action\/preservation-of-forests\/\">project<\/a> to restore Baikal forests affected by fires.<\/li><li>Became a member of the coordinating council of the World Water Forum.<\/li><li>Became an observer organization at the COP28 climate summit.<\/li><li>The Foundation&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Annual-report-2021_EN.pdf\">2021 Annual Report<\/a> received the Gold Standard in the Donors&#8217; Forum competition.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>We retained all of the Foundation&#8217;s projects and launched a new <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/new-grant-program\/\">grant program<\/a>. We helped to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/russian-scientists-for-the-first-time-assessed-the-genetic-diversity-of-the-baikal-seal\/\">study<\/a> of the genetic code of the Baikal seal, organized several <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/the-second-expedition-to-study-the-wild-reindeer\/\">scientific expeditions<\/a> on the traces of endemic animals and plants, trained thousands of people in the rules of responsible tourism in national parks, and involved high technology in the 76-year scientific monitoring of the lake.<\/li><li>Created a <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/the-team-of-lake-baikal-foundation-delivered-a-course-water-resources-management-and-leadership-at-a-university-\/\">course<\/a> on water resources for the university. The Foundation&#8217;s team developed and delivered a course on \u00abWater Resources Management and Leadership\u00bb in English for undergraduate students of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. We managed to attract leading Russian and foreign experts: scientists, managers, professionals in the field of water resources management as course instructors.<\/li><li>We participated in the scientific editing of the book \u00abLook: Baikal\u00bb. The travel book was published by Samokat publishing house at the end of 2022. We decided to share our knowledge about the lake and tell young and adult readers about how anyone, no matter where they live, can help Baikal. Samokat Publishing House is now a partner of the Foundation. 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the book \u00abLook: Baikal\u00bb will be transferred to the development of our projects.<\/li><li>We continued to speak publicly on the topic of climate change adaptation. We presented the Foundation&#8217;s position on the development of technologies in the conservation of intact forests of Baikal at the meeting of the Expert Council on Sustainable Development of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation on the eve of the 27th UN Climate Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh (COP-27). The Foundation became the only representative of non-profit sector.<\/li><li>We started a large charitable consulting project for a specially protected natural area on Lake Baikal. We started to create a development strategy for a huge and unique territory consisting of the Transbaikal National Park, Barguzin Nature Reserve and Frolikha Wildlife Refuge, which are managed by the Federal State Budgetary Institution \u00abZapovednoe Podlemorye\u00bb.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The Foundation<a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/the-foundation-has-been-granted-accreditation-of-the-un-environment-programme\/\"> has been granted<\/a> <strong>Accreditation of the UN Environment Programme<\/strong>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/environmental-education\/the-baikal-nature-reserve-school\/\">The Baikal Nature Reserve School<\/a> project <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/the-baikal-nature-reserve-school-is-a-winner-of-the-all-russian-competition\/\">became the winner<\/a> in the nomination\u00a0\u00abThe best educational (including informational) project in the environmental field\u00bb among the initiatives of the non-profit sector within the framework of <strong>the III All-Russian competition \u00abReliable Partner \u2013 Ecology\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/sustainable-tourism\/trash-free-national-parks\/\">Trash Free National Parks<\/a>\u00a0program <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/the-foundation-received-the-change-management-visionaries-award\/\">took second place<\/a> in the \u00abEcology. NGOs\u00bb nomination within the framework of <strong>the \u00abChange Management. Visionaries Award\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=V4HBwi1KLfk\" target=\"_blank\">The short film\u00a0\u00abResponsible Tourism\u00bb<\/a> of Lake Baikal Foundation<a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/good-story-contest\/\"> became the winner<\/a> of the nomination \u00abBest Feature Film Script\u00bb in the framework of<strong> the \u00abGood Story\u00bb contest<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/lake-baikal-foundation-has-won-a-grant-competition\/\">became the winner<\/a> of the grant competition for non-profit organizations <strong>\u00abSupport Will Come\u00bb<\/strong> and received funds for the implementation of<a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/water-conservation\/the-baikal-without-fishnets\/\">\u00a0\u00abThe Baikal Without Fishnets\u00bb project<\/a>.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/sustainable-tourism\/trash-free-national-parks\/\">Trash Free National Parks<\/a>\u00a0program <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/the-foundation-won-the-contest-of-ecoeducational-projects\/\">took 3<sup>rd\u00a0<\/sup>place<\/a> in the Environmental Education Program nomination as part of the Waste thematic section in the framework of the <strong>III All-Russian environmental contest of educational projects EcoProsvet 2021<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The Foundation<a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/lake-baikal-foundation-has-won-the-presidential-grant-for-the-4th-time\/\">\u00a0became the winner<\/a> of <strong>the Presidential Grants Foundation contest<\/strong> in the sphere of \u00abEnvironmental and animal protection\u00bb, the category: \u00abDeveloping everyday ecological culture of people\u00bb and recieved funds to implement <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/environmental-education\/the-baikal-nature-reserve-school\/\">\u00abThe Baikal Nature Reserve School\u00bb<\/a> project.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>2020<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Lake Baikal Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/lake-foundation-became-the-first-member-of-the-world-water-council-from-russia\/\">became the first member<\/a> of <strong>the World Water Council <\/strong>from Russia<\/li><li>More than <strong>100 thousand pupils <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/more-than-100-000-students-watched-short-film-responsible-tourism-\/\">watched <\/a>the Foundation&#8217;s video about tourism<\/li><li>The project \u00abSustainable Management of MSW in Protected Areas: Regulatory Proposals\u00bb<a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/proekt-po-obrashcheniiu-s-tko-voshel-v-top-100-foruma-asi\/\"> was included<\/a> in the top 100 ideas according to the results of the expert selection of the forum of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives<strong> \u00abStrong Ideas for a New Time\u00bb<\/strong><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/our-work\/biodiversity-conservation\/the-baikal-seal-year\/\">\u00abThe Baikal Seal Year\u00bb<\/a>&nbsp;project <a href=\"https:\/\/baikalfoundation.ru\/en\/the-project-to-study-the-baikal-seal-was-included-in-the-top-100-projects-of-the-presidential-grants-fund\/\">was included<\/a> in the top 100 projects of <strong>the Presidential Grants Foundation contest<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>2018<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>\u00abWith a Backpack on the Trail\u00bb project became&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vernadsky.ru\/news\/nep-2018-pozdravlyaem-pobediteley\/\" target=\"_blank\">the winner of the competition<\/a>&nbsp;<strong>\u00abThe National Environmental Prize named after V.I.
