On 8 September, Baikal Day, the Youth Water Council and the Lake Baikal Foundation held a marathon of offline events in the shops of the Perekryostok retail chain. During the day in 9 points of the city everyone was told about the holiday and Baikal itself, about the Foundation and its projects, about the importance of water conservation and about the water footprint left by each of us. Interactive activities were prepared for active participants: a master class with river water and a quiz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experiments with drinking water and water from the Moscow river Sinichki<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To illustrate the human impact on water bodies, members of the Youth Water Council took water samples from the Sinichka River, which flows in a densely populated neighbourhood in the east of Moscow. Drinking water was used for comparison. Mobile laboratory tests showed the poor quality of the river water and the presence of contaminants, and the sample itself changed its colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
