November 14-15, 2018 members of scientific-technical board of \u00abZapovednoe Podlemorye\u00bb – one of the largest Special Protected Natural Areas (SPNAs) in the Baikal region \u2013 met in Ust-Barrguzin. CEO of Lake Baikal Foundation went on business trip to participate in the meeting.<\/p>\n
During the meeting Anastasia Tsvetkova presented comprehensive program by Lake Baikal Foundation on studying the Baikal seal. Scientific-educational program aimed at conservation of the Baikal endemic species became the winner of Presidential Grants Foundation contest in 2018.<\/p>\n
Another issue on the agenda was discussion of scientific-educational tourism development in \u00abZapovednoe Podlemorye\u00bb. This topic deserves attention both from SPNAs and the public. Popular scientific expeditions represent a kind of sustainable tourism and are worth being practiced in the Baikal natural area.<\/p>\n
In the end of the business trip Anastasia Tsvetkova took part in opening of a new Visitor Center \u00abWildlife Park\u00bb in Zabaikalsky national park. The Center offers comfortable reception for the visitors and has video surveillance system to control the number of visiting cars and recreational pressure on the national park\u2019s territory.
