The Lake Baikal Foundation CEO Anastasia Tsvetkova spoke about the benefits of supporting scientific projects at the III International Congress of Young Scientists on Sustainable Development at the section «Corporate Social Responsibility: A New View». Anastasia shared her knowledge about the support of science from the Russian business, noting how science can consolidate many CSR companies’ events. Among the advantages of supporting science is the achievement of concrete results based on the scientific figures, the trust in projects from different target audiences (both the public and the authorities), a wide space for activities in regions where the crisis is most acute in supporting scientific projects. Separately, Anastasia told about the Fuundations’ experience in financing long-term monitoring of the ISU Biology Institute «Point No.1», and invited students to participate in the «Baikal Initiative» competition initiated by the Foundation in order to draw attention to the projects on Lake Baikal and Baikal natural territory protection of young scientists.
During the section, the topics of corporate governance and the role of stakeholders in the implementation of the CSR concept, innovations in CSR and non-financial reporting were also touched upon. The Congress is held at the Finance University under the Government of the Russian Federation from May 17 to May 27, 2017.
