On 10 April, at the IX Russian Water Congress, Olga Amelkina, Deputy Director General of the Foundation, made a report in the panel discussion “Development of Human Resources Potential in the Water Sector”. Olga shared the interim results of the sociological research “Personnel for the Water Sector” initiated by the Foundation, which will find out which water conservation specialists will be in demand in Russia in 30 years, taking into account environmental, climatic, and demographic forecasts (the research is conducted pro-bono by OMI), and also spoke about mechanisms for involving young people in the water agenda through profile education, volunteering, internships, water competitions and associations.
The Foundation has taken an active stance on training a wide range of personnel for the water sector, who will be in demand in environmental NGOs, government agencies, as well as in business and consulting. The Foundation is a co-author of the undergraduate programme at the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) on managing global challenges, willingly takes students on internships, and supports the development of the Youth Water Council in Russia,

The Russian Water Congress was also attended by members of the Youth Water Council (YWC), who presented the results of their activities for 2024 at the youth session.
Last year, the YWC members did a lot of work. We developed a logo for the association, agreed on the mission and vision of the community, worked on a compilation on pollution of water bodies by sunken fishing nets, participated in forums and conferences, and, most importantly, held our own session at the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku. We are sure that this is only the beginning,

The Russian Water Congress is a key platform in the development of Russia’s water policy, bringing together representatives of government, business, science, education, non-profit sector and youth to achieve sustainable solutions to the water agenda.
