On September 4, 2019 Moscow welcomed the 3rd Climate Forum of Cities. The Lake Baikal Foundation Project Manager Ekaterina Petrunina gave a talk on responsible production and consumption on at one of the forum venues – in the Digital Business Space.
The main topic of the forum 2019 was sustainable development of the cities during the climate change and the responsibility of state, business and civil society in implementation of sustainable practices.
As a Youth Ambassador of the UN 12th SDG in Russia Ekaterina Petrunina spoke at the workshop «Responsible consumption is a choice of the future». During the introductive discussion the speakers and the participants exchanged opinions about pros and cons of compostable package in Russia; looked at the best foreign practices in the field of biodegradable plant package emphasizing the term «environmental and carbon footprint».
The participants of the workshop – the students of chemistry faculties of the Moscow universities – were proposed to work out a technology for compostable cups made of waste from wood-pulp industry. Such cups could become a good practice of sustainable package use.
