If you supported the Foundation during the campaign «One ruble a day» – this news is for you.
The campaign «One ruble a day», initiated by «Nuzhna Pomosch» charitable foundation, has already received a wide public response and within a few hours after the launch having attracted thousands of new empathic people to charity. The campaign is designed to increase several times the number of Russians who regularly help the foundations, showing that charity can be easy, transparent and truly effective in solving social problems.
We consider it important to tell what your ruble will cost a day if you decided to support the Lake Baikal Foundation and subscribed to a regular donation.
Each project in the Foundation is systematic and multitasking. For example, we annually support thelong-term monitoring of lake Baikal «Point No.1», which for more than 70 years has been on the shoulders of the employees of the Institute of Biology at the Irkutsk State University. As part of the observations, researchers conduct phyto- and zooplankton sampling, measure indicators of the pelagic zone state (water column). Based on the data obtained, it is possible to identify important changes occurring in the basis of lake Baikal ecosystem and in the climate system of the entire planet. If we stop paying salaries to researchers, the project listed in the Russian book of records, the data of which is used annually in international scientific research, will cease to exist. Your ruble goes to field and laboratory research within the project. It is your contribution to science, to the project, which has no analogues in the world.
There is another example, our grant competition for young scientists «Baikal Initiative» aimed at helping breakthrough solutions proposed by talented specialists who come to us with applied programs to overcome environmental problems or to preserve a rare plant and animal species. Your ruble goes to acquisition of a laboratory instrument for high science or a photo trap which will allow keeping an account of an animal and taking measures on its feeding, resettlement and saving!
By the way, as for animals. In 2019, the Foundation will conduct a non-invasive study of Baikal seal for the first time. We will find out how endemic of Baikal feels, tell all the relevant departments about it and in any possible way we will seek to protect the seal from the resumption of industrial production.
Each ruble will turn into a new backpack for eco-lessons for children from the socially vulnerable category. Every ruble will bring closer the realization of our cherished dream of national parks without garbage – we won’t spend money on their cleaning, we will launch a system to optimize the handling of waste on the territories and carry out educational work with tourists.
Our Foundation exists through private initiatives and grant programs, it is our advantage. Thanks to this kind of financing, we can do independent research on the Baikal ecosystem, attract diverse expertise, use the data in the reports of the public and business council on the national project «Ecology» and strive to comprehensively change the situation around Baikal for the better.
Thank you for your attention and interest in activity of the Lake Baikal Foundation! We will be happy to keep you informed about our projects and initiatives. Please let us know your email address, we will try to briefly share the news once a month and tell how your daily ruble makes possible fundamental and applied research, as well as good environmental initiatives to save Lake Baikal for posterity.
