We are happy to announce that the Chikoy National Park has opened for visiting after lifting the restrictions introduced in the middle of June. Since the beginning of the tourist season, 292 visitors have arrived at the national park for tourism and recreation purposes. In the national park, one can stay in a guest house or in cordon houses. Four of them already have separate waste collection points installed as part of the Trash Free National Parks project.
Sorting waste has become much easier and more convenient: the park inspectors explain new recycling rules and «Carry In – Carry Out» principle to all the guests when they receive a visiting permit.
You can hand over clean plastic, glass, metal for recycling at the Shumilovka, Atsa, Oskino cordons and in the guest house, and paper and batteries can be left for recycling in the administration building of the national park in the Krasny Chikoy settlement. The collected recyclables will be pressed by the employees of the park and then transported for processing to the city of Ulan-Ude.
During the first half of the summer, five volunteers took part in the Trash Free National Parks: Chikoy project. They cleaned the park from last year’s waste and sorted it into fractions for further transportation for recycling.
The Chikoy National Park is already the second natural territory where the Trash Free National Parks program is being implemented. The project is supported by the RusPRO Association, L-PACK company and the World Around You Foundation.
