The Foundation’s team, represented by Ekaterina Petrunina and Aizhan Ilyasova, successfully completed their trip to Zabaikalsky national park, where several projects of the Foundation are being implemented in 2020.
The trip had several goals. First, to evaluate the performance of the responsible waste management system. Ekaterina and Aizhan visited separate waste collection points (they can now be seen from afar thanks to the improved bright design of container sites!), a warehouse of secondary raw materials in the economic zone of the national park; they talked with tourists, camping administrators and volunteers, including Leila Khakhurayeva, the coordinator of the 2020 volunteer campaign, co-chair of the «Solve TOGETHER» coalition (Ulan-Ude). It is worth noting that in comparison with the pilot launch in 2019, the system of eco-education of visitors to the national park and separate waste collection on the territory has improved qualitatively and will continue to develop on the basis of the concept of sustainable management of MSW, developed within the framework of the «Trash Free National Parks» project.
The second important goal was to shoot material for a training video about responsible tourism in natural areas with the Foundation’s pro bono partner, the Method Production team, with the support of the Outventure brand. The release of the video is scheduled for September 2020, keep following our news!
The Foundation is grateful to the Director, employees of the departments of environmental education and tourism, state inspectors, drivers of the «Zapovednoe Podlemorye» for ensuring the movement of the film crew and the Foundation’s team on water and land in the national park, advice and a warm welcome in the village of Kurbulik!
