This year, Lake Baikal Foundation received the status of observer organization at the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP) and will participate in the upcoming 28th Conference (COP-28 or COP28), taking place from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai (UAE).
The UN Climate Change Conference is the highest negotiating body for implementing the provisions of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, the most important international climate agreements. Today, the conference is one of the largest forums convened under the auspices of the United Nations and gathers tens of thousands of participants from among heads of state, ministers, representatives of business and civil society.
The main tasks of observer organizations are to ensure transparency of negotiations during the conference, provide expert advice, raise awareness and draw public attention to climate change issues.
In the face-to-face format, the 28th conference will be attended by Lake Baikal Foundation CEO Anastasia Tsvetkova and Senior Project Manager Alexandra Tulusoeva, while in the online format the Foundation will be represented by Deputy CEO Olga Amelkina and Project Manager Ekaterina Terentyeva.

We follow international trends and national climate regulation, develop our projects with practicing experts and strive to contribute to the achievement of climate goals. During the conference we have planned face-to-face meetings with the regulator and partners, participation in the youth platform, dense analytical work, the results of which we will definitely share”, – comments Anastasia Tsvetkova, CEO of the Foundation.
