On October 22, the course “Water Science and Water for Sustainable Development” has started for the 3rd year bachelor students of the program “Change Management” at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) as part of a module on water resources management. This course is the first in the module on water, which consists of three courses in total.
From the course “Water Science and Water for Sustainable Development”, students learn about the physical processes of water, hydrology, technical side of water resources management and many other.
Two other courses – “Water management mechanisms and regulation in the national and international scales” and “Water resources management and leadership”- await students later this fall.
Since the end of 2020, the staff of the Lake Baikal Foundation and the Faculty of Public Policy and Management of the Institute of Social Sciences at RANEPA have been actively preparing the water module. They
- developed the structure of the water module and the content of three courses in water resources management;
- conducted an interview with 14 leading Russian and foreign experts for the role of teachers of courses;
- selected teaching staff;
- developed lesson plans in collaboration with teachers.
We hope that students gain useful knowledge and skills that can be implemented into practice in the nearest future.
