The Lake Baikal Foundation will support the Baikal environmental monitoring project «Point No.1» for the second year in a row

On April 17, 2018, the Lake Baikal Foundation and the Irkutsk State University signed an agreement according to which the Lake Baikal Foundation will allocate 1.5 million rubles to support the long-term ecological monitoring program of Lake Baikal, «Point No.1». Project Manager – Dr.Sc. Maxim Timofeev, director of the ISU Institute of Biology, head of the laboratory «Problems of adaptation of biosystems». The research is carried out on the basis of the Institute of Biology of Irkutsk State University.
«Point number 1» is a unique project in duration and value. Data that has been accumulated in the framework the project for seven decades, is a new ecological knowledge about Lake Baikal, which will allow scientists to continuously monitor the state of the lake and make regular proposals and recommendations for improving ecological state of the reservoir.
