On May 24, 2018, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Lake Baikal Foundation for Environmental Applications and Research and the Republic of Buryatia signed an agreement for strategic cooperation and organization of cooperation on the Lake Baikal protection and the Baikal natural territory development. The agreement was signed by Anastasia Tsvetkova, the Lake Baikal Foundation CEO and the Head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov.
Cooperation supposes a regular dialogue on the Lake Baikal protection and the development of the Baikal natural territory, including the creation of joint workers and expert groups to develop proposals for cooperation, as well as joint seminars, meetings and consultations.
Within the limits of its powers, the Government of the Republic of Buryatia undertakes to inform the population about the state of the environment, as well as implement state policy in the field of environmental protection and environmental development on the Republic of Buryatia territory.
In order to cooperate, the Lake Baikal Foundation will assist in the implementation and promotion of projects and initiatives, as well as take part in activities aimed at improving the ecological situation around Lake Baikal and the Baikal natural territory.
