On 1 October Lake Baikal Foundation and the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University «LETI» held an online round table «Green Areas: protect and travel».
The meeting saw the experts in design and development of natural areas, as well as scientists who create technologies for safe usage of environmental space. Lake Baikal Foundation’s Head of Projects Ekaterina Petrunina made a report on the organization’s activities and potential cooperation areas with the experts and students of «LETI».
In course of the round table we found many cross-points of the Foundation’s programs, leading scientific developments on waste recycling being made in «LETI» and environmental architectural projects in Russian natural areas of the Orchestra Design Studio.
After the conclusive discussion the participants agreed on the point that we should preserve unique natural locations while travelling. It is urgent to develop sustainable tourism providing the national parks’ visitors with the infrastructure complemented by information about how to use it correctly. It concerns ecotrails, waste bins, camping sites, etc.
The event was a part of the «Way to the Lake» track dedicated to systematic analytical research and applied projects on Lake Baikal conservation and development of the Baikal Natural Area. The track is guided by the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University «LETI» and Lake Baikal Foundation.
