The second stage of the competition «Baikal Initiative 2019» competition for young scientists’ support is ended. According to its terms, the finalists had to prove that their projects were really relevant and necessary in the opinion of the «people’s expertise», namely, to collect 20% of the declared funding on their own by crowdfunding, attracting sponsors and other public support channels.
Lake Baikal Foundation is pleased to announce that all three finalists of the competition have coped with the task. In February, they will receive a grant and start implementing their projects.
The winners of «Baikal Initiative 2019» competition are:
- Yulia Lubyaga, project «Research of functional features of P-gp of endemic Baikal amphipods using transfected cell lines and assessment of the potential of transfected cell lines for ecological monitoring of lake Baikal»
- Inna Anikienko, project «Study of the cardiovascular system of the Baikal seal in normal and pathological conditions»
- Natalia Luzhkova, project «Educational tourism as a tool for conservation of natural complexes in the conditions of pyrogenic and anthropogenic pressure»
