On the eve of the New Year, we are pleased to announce our plans to continue the «Trash Free National Parks» program in the Zabaikalsky National Park, which has been implemented there since 2019.
During the tourist season, there are five separate waste collection points in the park, a large-scale educational program is being implemented with the participation of local residents and volunteers, and since 2021 it is possible to learn waste management at the year-round interactive site of the Baikal Nature Reserve School.
With the growth of the tourist flow, new points of attraction for visitors have emerged: the picturesque Davsha area in the Barguzin Nature Reserve and the pier near the Monakhovo campsite. It means that more solid municipal waste will accumulate there, which must be included in the general system of separate waste collection operating in the park, so, additional separate waste collection points will be created.
The second area of cooperation for 2022 is technical equipment. For example, a recycling press is simply necessary to reduce the economic costs and transport carbon footprint of the national park.
In 2022, the project will be implemented with the support of Henkel‘s ProNature eco-line as part of another national campaign. The donation for the development of a system of sustainable management of solid municipal waste will amount to 1,200 020 rubles.
Scaling of the program has also become possible thanks to the partnership with the World Around You Foundation.
